Logos Hope, the world’s largest floating book fair, will soon visit Port-au-Prince, Haiti for the first time. The ship will be open in Port-au-Prince from Aug. 11 to Aug. 27 and docked at Wharf, Port-au-Prince.
“We are looking forward to returning to Haiti. We believe books change lives, and we are excited to welcome many to meet our international crew,” said Captain Chris Hughes.
MV Logos Hope, an international nonprofit based in Germany, last visited Haiti in 1987, with the Logos, Logos Hope’s sister ship. The organization has brought affordable books to more than 45 million people in 160 countries since 1970.
Logos Hope’s on board book fair offers a selection of over 5,000 different titles of books at affordable prices. They cover a wide range of subjects including science, sports, hobbies, cookbooks, medicine and languages. With children’s titles, academic texts, dictionaries and more, the book fair is something the whole family can enjoy.
The rest of the Visitor Experience Deck is also open for the public to explore, from the Welcome Area, with a video introduction and interactive displays, to the International Café, which has ice cream, drinks and snacks for sale.
Logos Hope also features an onboard theatre which seats over 400 and hosts theatrical plays, cultural shows, conferences and more.
