The International Award for Arabic Fiction is one of the most prestigious literary awards in the Arab world.
The award aims to reward the excellence in contemporary Arabic literature and raise the level of interest of reading this literature internationally by translating the winning novels, which reached the short list into other major languages and publish them. In addition to the annual award, "The International Award for Arabic Fiction" supports other cultural initiatives. In 2009, it launched its first seminar (Book Workshop) for a group of hopeful young Arab authors.

In recognition of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may Allah have mercy on him, and his pioneering role in the unification, development and building the state and the man, it was decided to establish a scientific award entitled "Sheikh Zayed Award for Authors" which is an independent award given annually to the makers of culture, intellectuals, creators, Publishers and young people for their contributions in the fields of development, authorship and translation in the humanities which have a clear impact in enrich cultural, literary and social life, according to scientific and objective criteria. This award was established with the support and sponsorship of "Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority". With a total value of 7 million AED.
