Bodour Al Qasimi

Bodour Al Qasimi is the founder and CEO of Kalimat Group, the region’s foremost publisher dedicated to producing high quality children’s literature. She is the founder of the Emirates Publishers Association and was its President for four years from 2009-2013, being reappointed to the role in 2017. Her tenure has resulted in remarkable achievements, most notably the EPA being awarded full membership of the International Publishers Association in 2012. Sheikha Bodour is also the founder and Patron of the UAE Board on Books for Young People (UAEBBY), the national section of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), a non-profit organisation that represents an international network of people from all over the world who are committed to bringing books and children together. Sheikha Bodour is the Head of Knowledge without Borders organising committee, presiding over the initiatives of the cultural programme that was launched by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

 
 

Ali Al Shaali


Ali Al Shaali’s passion for the written word can be seen in his array of professional appointments as well as his prodigious writing output. Currently the Vice President of the Emirates Publishers Association, he was the Director of the Cultural and Scientific Association and the ‘1971’ Initiative launched by the office of HH the Crown Prince of Dubai. He was also the CEO of the Dubai International Poetry Festival 2009 and a Senior Director at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation. Al Shaali’s published works include the collections Nahla w Rababa (‘Bee and Rebab’) Wjooh w Aokhra Motaaba (‘Tired and Other Faces’) and Lilard Rouh Wahda (‘Earth of One Soul’) He also has authored a script Deloni Al Al Kahaf (‘Take Me to the Cave’). Al Shaali is active in several cultural institutions and committees, including the Emirates Writers Union, and has participated in numerous local and international events and festivals. Al Shaali holds a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a Master's degree in project management.

Mohammed Bin Dakhin

Mohammed bin Dakhin brings an extensive array of literary, media and broadcast experience to his role as Treasurer of the Emirates Publishers Association. He was Editor and then Editor-in-Chief of Emirate Air Force Magazine from 1989-1992, after which he moved to become Director of the Media Department at the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research as well as Editor-in-Chief for Akhbar Al Saah daily newsletter, positions he held from 1992-97. He was a TV and radio coordinator in the Morale Guidance Directorate from 1997-98 and was an accompanying journalist with HH Ruler of Sharjah and the Director of WAM from 1998-2005. Bin Dahkin was the Director of the Media Centre at University of Sharjah from 2005-2010 and the Director of Government Communication Department at the Ministry of Labour from 2010-2013. From 2010 to date he has been the Director of the Media and Communications Department at the Securities and Commodities Authority. Bin Dahkin’s honorary positions include Ambassador of Sharjah Government Communication Award, CEO of Happiness and Positivity at the Securities and Commodities Authority and programmer and presenter at Sharjah Radio and TV. Bin Dahkin was a Founding Member of the Journalist Association, UAE.

Ali Bin Hatem

Ali Bin Hatem’s exceptional organisational skills enhance the smooth running of the Emirates Publishing Association, of which he is Secretary and a founding member. His professional roles include Chairman and Partner of Dar Thaqafa for Publishing and Distribution LLC, Oryx Publishing LLC and Dar AL Khalij Al Arabi for Commercial Publications. He is the Chairman and Partner in Smart Design, which specialises in event management and exhibition organising. He was a founding member of the Arab Union for International Exhibitions and Conferences - Head of GCC Regional Office and the Former Director of Exhibitions and Events at the General Exhibitions Corporation.

Nooh Al Hammadi


Nooh Al Hammadi is the founder and owner of Dar Zajel for Publishing and Distribution and possesses over 12 years of scientific experience in governmental organisations and projects in the UAE. A former columnist for a local UAE newspaper, Al Hammadi published a book Ya Bonai Itajih Gharban (‘Turn to West, Son’). He has made several contributions to voluntary and humanitarian work at local and international levels and is a founding member of several societies and cultural clubs, including the Emirati Korean Friendship Society and the Toastmasters Club for the development of leadership skills. He is a former Vice Chairman of the Arabic Language Protection Society. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Public Policies and Governmental Management, Al Hammadi is a member of the UAE Society of Engineers.
